A Collection of Plumbing Code Articles

Welcome, this web site is comprised of articles I have written concerning rules and regulations contained in Massachusetts Plumbing Code 248 C.M.R., Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 142, and other related codes. In addition, copies of enforcement letters, transcripts of interesting court cases, and other items of interest collected over the years.

The articles are my own personal and professional opinion, and are backed up by the written word of the code or law. Please read the articles of your choice in their entirety. Draw your own conclusions and opinions. Remember when someone gives you free information, just like advise, always take it. You certainly don't have to use it, but save it for future reference.

Joe Guzzo started in the plumbing trade at the young age of 12 going to work with his Dad during summers, he worked for his fathers company in the 70's. Joe then ran his own plumbing business with his Brother in the 80's, and in 1990, started his career as a Plumbing Inspector. He is currently the Plumbing & Gas Fitting Inspector for one (1) City, and two (2) Towns in the North Shore area of Massachusetts.

Joe Guzzo:

served as President of The Northeastern Mass. Plumbing & Gas Inspectors Association,
has been a member of the Board Of Directors for the New England Plumbing Gas & Mechanical Inspectors Assoc.,
served on many boards and committees, among them the continuing education committee that was instrumental in the development of continuing education for all Plumbing Inspectors,
served on the code review committee for the state,
was personally responsible for writing numerous code revisions to 248 C.M.R.,
and taught code courses for apprentice plumbers preparing for their State exam.

Joe is a staunch advocate for the rights of disabled people. He continues his quest to make handicapped toilet facilities available in all building uses and for uniformity in the enforcement of handicapped toilet facilities by all Plumbing Inspectors.
